Résumé
Une catéchèse tronquée et notionnelle a souvent été présentée comme cause de la non-intégration de la foi chrétienne en Afrique. Elle expliquerait ainsi le décalage qui affecte l’expérience de la foi. Pour nous, ce décalage ne peut s’expliquer simplement par des causes conjoncturelles. Il peut aussi être le visage de la liberté humaine et, en partie, structurel, c’est-à-dire dû à la spécificité pascale du christianisme. Il constitue, toutefois, un défi face auquel une démarche d’éducation et d’approfondissement de la foi des personnes et des communautés, selon les perspectives de la « vie abondante » (Jn 10, 10), est vitale pour la crédibilité et l’avenir du christianisme en Afrique.

Summary
A truncated and notional catechesis has often been presented as the cause of the non-integration of the Christian faith in Africa. It would thus explain the gap that affects the experience of faith. For us, this gap cannot be explained simply by conjunctural causes. It may also be the face of human freedom and, in part, structural, that is to say due to the Easter specificity of Christianity. It constitutes, however, a challenge in the face of which a process of education and deepening of the faith of persons and communities, according to the perspectives of « abundant life » (Jn 10:10), is vital for the credibility and future of Christianity in Africa.
